How do weight loss injections work?

Our weight loss injections activate the actions of two natural substances in your body, glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). This assists weight loss by reducing appetite, curbing cravings and slowing the rate at which your body processes foods, leaving you feeling fuller for longer.

Weight loss injections are becoming increasingly popular because they have effectively helped thousands reduce their weight and improve their health.

How to use the Injections

Once you commit to the pens, we will give you full guidance on how to inject. If your initial consultation is at a clinic then we can do the first injection for you. After this, you can administer the injections at home, with full ongoing guidance from our team.

When you start with the injections, you must use it once a week at any time. If your schedule changes and you have to switch the day of the week that you use the injection, make sure that you leave 72 hours between doses.

Before you use your injection, you first have to choose your injection site. A member of our team will help you identify which injection site is best for you.

Once you have picked your injection site, you need to pull off the base cap of the pen and place the base flat on your skin. You can then unlock the pen and press and hold the pen for 10 seconds. Once injected, listen to the first click, as that means that the injection has started. Once you hear the second click, the injection is complete.

How to store your pens

Properly storing your weight loss pens is crucial to ensure that they work. If they are not refrigerated for an extended period of time, they could become ineffective.  We suggest you store the pens at 2°C to 8°C and keep them in their original packaging to protect them.

If you have plans to travel, don’t worry. You can transport your pens unrefrigerated; you just need to ensure they don’t reach a temperature of 30°C.

Disposal of pens

If you use weight loss pens, you must dispose of them properly. To do so, put them in a sharps disposal bin, right after use. Make sure your sharps bin is out of the reach of children and empty it once it is full.

Dose increase

When you use the medication, your body will start adapting to it, so we will increase your dose in four-week intervals. The starting dose is always 2.5mg; each pen contains four doses of the injection, so your first pen will last a month.

With any weight loss injection, your weight loss will eventually plateau so we’d look to increase the dose until you reach the maintenance dose.
